A Message from the President

“To whom much is given, much is expected, a cliché quote to some, but meaningful nonetheless. It is with great honor that I accept the position of President of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation. I am excited, humbled, and ready to serve.

Over the next year I look forward to providing more strategic event programming, expanding our outreach, and maximizing our fundraising efforts. All of this in the quest to further our mission of supporting the African American legal community through scholarships for law students and resources for legal professionals.

To do this, I aim to make meaningful changes in our operations to make sure our efforts as a nonprofit are both effective and efficient. I plan to streamline parts of our internal processes and expand our communications through newsletters, regular website updates, and social media to make sure the community has both access to us and knowledge of our resources.

Looking back, as a law student I was able to attend the Annual Dinner and become a student member of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar. After graduation I had the pleasure to join and serve on both the Association and Foundation boards. My first position was as social chair, and I still firmly believe, particularly for law students, in the need for more opportunities to network and socialize. There is so much room for growth and mentorship through our organization and in the legal community. As President I am both excited and committed to providing these opportunities and more.

Thank you for this honor.
